Next generation media player
Android handset manufacturers are going to need something fresh and sexy to promote their investments in Google's technology. Apple has set the bar with the Cover Flow user interface and media player on iPhones.
A new user interface paradigm is needed to take full advantage of next generation mobile high definition displays, graphics accelerators such as NVIDIA GoForce, and virtual environments such as Second Life. mDICE 3D from Xanadew allows users to quickly multitask and content surf using a virtual cube interface. Users load their playlists, then roll to surf, shake to shuffle, and scan with automatic reload to access a virtually endless amount of content. mDICE 3D renders a true three-dimensional cube (unlike HTC’s TouchFLO) and supports roll, pitch, yaw, zoom-in, zoom-out and translucency.

Let's do this thing !!!
Are these folks in the ADC?
Super, Fantastic, Wonderful, Great.
wow reminds me of compiz fusion for Ubuntu
Qualcomm/ATI is better for Android apps !!!
I'll need more info from Xanadew before making any kind of recommendation, but IMHO, Google or Dell should check these folks out. Because videos are played back on a cube, that's 6X the data revenue for the Verizons of the world. In other words, this idea has a great ARPU story to tell. Although it might seem superficial at first, the player makes for a good first impression, which is everything in this ADHD market.
I hate the Apple iPhone. It's just over-hyped mediocre hardware and software. No graphics acceleration. No Adobe Flash media player. But they have a pervasive TV ad campaign. And if I hear that sappy circa late-1980's iPhone jingle one more time, I'll slit my throat.
Mobile FLV video, mobile 3D graphics and mobile gaming are the next killer apps. The Android platform can support all of these (except FLV). Google needs to get behind ideas like Xanadew now to ensure that "gPhone" OEMs have something to showcase their engineering efforts. And to attract the next wave of mobile technology users.
Gee - why didn't I come up with this idea? :)
It will be great to see how developers offer up a solution for all our media needs. Possible connection with Online Media stores to download music/videos. Can you say GoogleTunes. BOOMMM!!! Keep up the great work developers. I look forward at throwing a bunch of money your way as soon as Andriod hits the market in Q4.
