Polaroid To Try Out The Tablet Market

It seems to be the case that Polaroid see a future in the Android field as they look set to introduce their very own tablets.

ZTE launching 7-inch ICS tablet, Tegra 3 under the hood

Now at CES, Nvidia is showing off the tablet, and telling the world that it comes with a 7-inch crisp display with a 1200 x 800 resolution, Tegra 3 processor, and it's rocking on ICS. It also comes with 16GB of internal storage, as well as a MicroSD card slot.

HTC at one time the biggest manufacturer of phones in the US, and for sure made the most phones in 2011, made about one every month sometimes two. Keeping up with the amount of phones they made was difficult. They also tried to enter the tablet market with the HTC Flyer, and the Jetstream. The tablets were not huge hits but HTC said:

Fujitsu Unveils their Waterproof Android Arrows Tablet

Fujitsu announced their new waterproof Android 3.0 Honeycomb tablet yesterday at CES 2012 called the Arrows tablet. This tablet is a 10.1 inch dual core OMAP 4430 tablet with 1 GHz of memory and 1280×800 touchscreen. There is 16GB of onboard memory that can be easily upgraded to 48GB with a 32 GB microSD card.

With all the awesome stuff coming from CES today, it's hard to tell what we should consider to be "top of the news pile". However, this one certainly is in the running: Fujitsu leaked a pamphlet showing off that they've got a TEGRA 3 Quad-Core CPU (that's 4-CPU with Shadowcore). THis is the future, folks. We've been waiting and waiting for this!

Motorola Announces Wireless Charging

motoMotorola has been a super power at CES events in the past and this year at CES 2012 will be no different. Last year they wowed us with the Motorola Atrix and the truly Android Motorola Xoom. This year Motorola is supposed to announce their new wireless charging capabilities for mobile devices.
We don’t have much information on how it will work or if its a new protocol developed by Motorola or if they are partnered with someone else with an existing one. We also don’t have any idea what devices this will work with but can promise more information as the announcement is made.

Huawei to announce 2 new smartphones, one being world’s thinnest

In the latest from the madhouse, Huawei has announced two new phones: the Ascend P1 S and the Ascend P1. The unveiling will be happening at 8 AM PST. The Ascend P1S will be coming in at just 6.68 mm thin, making it the world's (currently) thinnest smartphone. The P1 will have all the same specs, but will come in a bit thicker, and will most likely be for LTE markets. Specs include:

Always Innovating Announces The HDMI Dongle - An Itty Bitty Alternative To The Set-Top Box

The Dongle looks to replace the set-top box for those who aren't interested in buying a hefty (or more expensive) GoogleTV device.

AI's HDMI Dongle is essentially a complete system on a chip, and has some incredible specs for such a tiny device. Supposedly starting at just $79, the device comes with a Cortex-A9 processor (capable of 1GHz to 1.8GHz speeds, depending on configuration), between 256MB and 1GB RAM, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC Connectivity, an accelerometer, and a bundled remote.

Acer brings amazing 1080p tablet to CES 2012

All I can say right now is “WOW!” Acer unveiled its new 1920×1080 (1080p) Iconia Tab at CES 2012 today. The tablet will ship with Android 4.0, weigh in at 650g and will pack an impressive array of ports (HDMI, microUSB, and microSD) along with a Tegra3 SoC.

HTC's Growth Stalls While Samsung Has Record Quarter

htcsamsungThe latest unaudited results from HTC for Q4 2011 indicates that total revenues reached NT$ 101 billion (US$ 360 million), a 2.49% drop as compared to the same period in 2010. In stark contrast, Samsung just had a record breaking quarter with profits reaching 5.2 trillion won (US$4.5 billion), almost double the figures of Q4 2010. Samsung's results for Q4 2011 breaks its previous record profit period of 5.0 trillion won (US$ 4.3 billion) from Q2 2010 and is an increase of 22% from Q3 2011. According to an analyst Samsung shipped an estimated 35 million smartphones in the previous quarter alone, but this is likely to include Samsung's low-end bada operated devices.

Corning To Showcase Gorilla Glass 2 At CES, Exhibit New Applications For The Next Generation Of Damage-Resistant Glass

It seems that Corning is gearing up for an exciting CES this year (which is just a few short days from beginning), publishing a news release earlier today which details the glass giant's plans for the world's largest consumer technology tradeshow.
Corning's most significant offering at CES this month will be the unveiling of Gorilla Glass 2. The latest generation of Corning's hugely popular damage-resistant glass is said to deliver higher functionality in thinner devices, and "enable broader touch technology penetration," according to James Steiner, Senior VP and General Manager of Corning Specialty Materials. Corning promises to reveal more details in an announcement set for January 9th.

Barnes & Noble Thinking About Selling NOOK Business – "It's The Right Time To Investigate Our Options" Says CEO

nookBarnes & Noble announced today that it is considering selling its NOOK business, citing significant shortfalls in sales and cutting its full-year forecast.
B&N also cited NOOK sales which fell below expectations, and investments in advertising and expansion as reasons for a predicted shortfall in fiscal 2012 sales of between $200 million and $320 million less than average estimates of $7.32 billion.
The major bookseller indicated that it plans to market the NOOK for "years to come," but that it "over-anticipated the growth in consumer demand for single-purpose black-and-white reading devices this holiday," as the company's simplest e-reader lagged far behind in sales compared to other members of the NOOK family.

Rumour: Google To Launch 7-Inch Nexus Tablet In Late Q1 2012

esLate last year Google chairman Eric Schmidt commented to an Italian newspaper that "in the next six months [Google planned] to market a tablet of the highest quality". His statement generated much speculation primarily over whether Google planned on releasing a self-branded "Nexus" tablet or whether they would merely partner with a device manufacturer, such as Motorola, Samsung, or HTC.

Sony Ericsson Release Another Teaser Image

thumbToday the company posted on Facebook and time they gave a hint that they will be releasing or at least announcing the unreleased Nozomi aka XPERIA ARC HD though to be honest I’m not convinced given that earlier images looked nothing liked this leaked one.

Could it be the LT28at, which is expected to be LTE-capable with a 4.55″ 720p display and a 13MP camera?

I guess only time will tell!

Velocity Micro Debuts A Pair Of Android 4.0 Tablets: The 7-Inch Cruz T507 And 9.7-Inch Cruz T510

thumbWe've all heard of the low-budget Velocity Cruz tablets before, and it looks like company is keeping the brand alive in 2012 with a pair of Android 4.0 tablets.

As expected, these aren't the most powerful portables on the planet -- but, then again, they'll likely have a price to match. The smaller of the duo is the Cruz T507, a 7-inch slate with a Cortex A8 1.2GHz processor, 512MB RAM, 8GB internal store, front-facing camera, HDMI out, and Amazon's Appstore as its go-to marketplace.

Intel partners with LG, Intel-powered phones coming in March
