Providing username/password to web page and parsing the result
Hi,
I'm a complete novice to Android or even Java development, but do have a lot of experience in web site applications, namely PHP, MySQL and various data feed formats that go with the territory.
I'm currently trying to build a mobile app to accompany a website.
So far, I've managed to make a simple form layout with fields for username and password and a sign in button.
I am however struggling to grasp getting my application to send a and parse a request from a php file which would act to handle the login and tell the android app if the login details are correct or not.
The php file would take post/get variables and return success/failiure XML.
Please can someone point me in the right direction of research or even better link me to a suitable tutorial (as I can't seem to find any).
I'm suprised there is not a tutorial out there to be honest, as a lot of apps tend to have login forms which login to a web service (eg, facebook, twitter etc...), so I'm hoping this is quite an easy task!

I tried to integrate a free antivirus program into an app for Adroid and I followed all the steps in a tutorial. My program is working well but sometimes errors appears because I need to be loged in and I no I am trying to do a login service in .Net and to port it on my device but I can't find proper tutorials for the login form implementation. I will search for more information and if I will find something interesting I will post the link.
