HTC makes good on promise, all future devices to be unlockable

Peter Chou has made good on his word to no longer lock the bootloaders of HTC Android phones. It was noticed by XDA member Nightwing, while tweaking an HTC Rezound.

Upon being questioned, HTCDev posted the following message, reassuring users of their commitment to an open Android experience:

All HTC Android devices launched after September 2011, are unlockable. The website will be updated accordingly to reflect this in the coming weeks. We continue to work on models launched prior to, September 2011. Please check back often for the status of older devices.

So without further ado, we advise anyone with an HTC device to head over to HTCDev, and see if your device is unlockable. HTC is sure to please many users with this move. With the ability to unlock bootloaders under their belts, Android developers can get to making custom ROMs and mods much quicker for newer devices.
