Google releases Android Design app guidelines

As Matias Duarte told Wired Magazine, “Designing an open mobile operating system — and doing it really well — that’s never happened before in human history.” And it’s because of that openness that third-party developers struggle to keep up with an OS that is constantly changing and growing. On Thursday Google launched the Android Design website created with that very issue in mind. The idea is that it will help developers to better understand what the design team behind Android was thinking when they put together the layouts and framework for Android 4.0, and help them develop apps that fit within the OS framework better than ever before – and that ultimately benefits the user.
