Wireless charging isn’t really anything too terribly cutting edge. Qi Adapters have been around for a year or two, and are available for a plethora of devices. Now, however, Sony is aiming to make wireless charging faster - much faster. As in, about an hour for a full charge.
Here we see pictures of the upcoming Sony Xperia tablet, and it looks like Sony means business. There are only three leaked pictures but with these, we see further confirmation that this WILL be an Xperia tablet (Not that this was ever doubted).
As many of you know, a photo or two of an unannounced phone finding its way online is not all that uncommon. In fact, most Android devices we've encountered have, at some point, been treated to an "in the wild" or "blurrycam" shot. Every once in a while you get a model that stands still for an extended period of time and poses for an entire gallery. Such is the case with the yet-announced Sony Xperia T (codename: Mint).
Today we see the highly anticipated Call Of Duty: Black Ops Zombies hit the Play Store. This is a direct spin off from the Xbox 360/PS3 game Call Of Duty: Black Ops. I’m sure many are glad to finally see the game available for Android…
Sony is still working on bringing Jelly Bean to Xperia models back through 2011.
Sony, doing a bit of damage control, has taken to their blog to clear the air as it pertains to an Android 4.1 update for their 2011 Xperia lineup. The last we had heard, Sony was not expecting to put Jelly Bean on their smartphones from last year and that the door had closed for future updates. Not so fast.
It’s been a while since we last heard mention of Sony’s 2012 flagship handset, however Sony in Japan have today released 3 new videos showing off the device which was previously known as the Haybusa.
Back in February, we heard that HTC might be getting PlayStation Certification on some of its phones. Today at E3, Sony announced that it will be opening up the PlayStation Mobile program, which was previously known as PlayStation Suite, to HTC. This means, among other things, that HTC phones that receive PS Certification will be able to play the host of classic PlayStation games available. Additionally, HTC devices will also have access to the third-party apps and games developed using the SDK.
In a time when many users are wondering if an Android 4.0 update will ever come to their devices, it was a pleasant surprise that Sony was open enough to release a beta version of ICS for some of their devices - the Xperia Arc S, Neo V, and Ray. But they didn't stop there, as they have, "upon request," released a beta ICS ROM for the Xperia Play (or as you may know it, the PlayStation Phone).
We stopped by the Sony booth earlier this morning at CES, and got some hands-on time with the very first Sony smartphones (Sony-Ericsson is no more, subject to regulatory approval) - the Xperia Ion and the Xperia S. While these devices were designed before the Sony Ericsson breakup, they'll be marketed as Sony devices when they hit retail channels.
It seems that smart watches are a bit of a theme at this year's CES. Motorola debuted an MP3-focused smart watch (though not Android based), and earlier today we told you about the I'm Watch. As an upgrade to the LiveView that they released last year, Sony revealed the SmartWatch (which begs the question of what we're supposed to call other smart watches). The SmartWatch sports a 1.3-inch color OLED touchscreen that displays information from your phone when the two are paired together.
