Sony Releases Beta ICS ROM For Unlockable Xperia Play Models

xperia playIn a time when many users are wondering if an Android 4.0 update will ever come to their devices, it was a pleasant surprise that Sony was open enough to release a beta version of ICS for some of their devices - the Xperia Arc S, Neo V, and Ray. But they didn't stop there, as they have, "upon request," released a beta ICS ROM for the Xperia Play (or as you may know it, the PlayStation Phone).

One of the novelty features in Android 4 is the “Face unlock” feature which appeared to work quite well, until people started to realize you could easily fool it with a simple photograph. However, Samsung has upgraded this feature to be a little more foolproof by making you blink to prove you’re a human being as it’s pretty difficult to make a photograph blink.

Google Pushes Source Code Of Android 4.0.4 (IMM76D) Into AOSP

aospSource code for Android 4.0.4 (AOSP tag android-4.0.4_r1.1), the latest incremental update with "a few hundred changes over 4.0.3," is being pushed to AOSP (Android Open Source Project) as we speak by JBQ, one of AOSP's main sourcerers (yes, I just made that word up).
This is excellent news for any ROM developers compiling their ROMs from AOSP (such as CyanogenMod) - chances are 4.0.4-based ROMs will start appearing very soon, maybe even tonight. Oh, and, of course, it's even more excellent news for custom ROM users (raise you hands).

Earlier today, official 4.0.4 updates got pushed out to the Motorola XOOM Wi-Fi and the GSM Nexus S. Hopefully, we'll be seeing a lot more of these official updates in the coming days - JBQ has only given us the standard disclaimer:

Motorola's Xoom Update Is Ice Cream Sandwich – Rolling Out To "Some Thousands Of Xoom Wi-Fi Owners" Now

xoomWell, it's official - the "project" Xoom owners have been waiting for is an update to Ice Cream Sandwich, meant as a soak test, expected to last through the weekend. Moto has begun pushing the new software as of 9pm PST. An anonymous tipster has provided us with shots of a private section of Motorola's official XOOM support forum, which confirm that the update is going live to those lucky enough to join the test group.

ASUS: Transformer TF101 Ice Cream Sandwich Update To Roll Out By Early February '12

Owners of the original ASUS Transformer (TF101) were ecstatic last week when ASUS promised the Ice Cream Sandwich update to roll out shortly after the one for the Prime, meaning any day after January 12th was fair game. Android 4.0.2 Rolling Out To The Galaxy Nexus

The Galaxy Nexus (GSM Version) is receiving a small update today that some already got. The update is rolling out via OTA and is a 8.8mb file. Granted this is not a big update nor an important one, but it will bring a few bug fixes and a fresh taste of a tasty treat.

If you have not received the OTA update yet just go into settings and check for the update manually.
